Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., speaking at a fundraising event Sunday in Seattle, said if his running mate Barack Obama is elected president, he will almost immediately be challenged with an international crisis that will test his strength and character.

“Mark my words,” Biden said, “it will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy.”

Biden said the world is looking at the 47-year-old senator from Illinois trying to figure out who he is and how he will deal with an international crisis of epic proportions.

“Watch, we’re gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy,” Biden assured. “I don’t know what the decision is going to be, but I promise you it will occur. As a student of history and having served with seven presidents, I guarantee you it is going to happen.”

Biden also made similar remarks at a San Francisco fundraiser the day before, ABC News reports.

“We’re going to face a major international challenge,” Biden said. “They’re going to want to test him, just like they did young John Kennedy. They’re going to want to test him. And they’re going to find out this guy’s got steel in his spine.” Biden said.

Biden asked the crowd to “gird your loins” and continue to stand by Obama as he makes tough, and possibly unpopular decisions regarding foreign affairs and the economy. Biden said no matter who is elected on Nov. 4, a difficult environment awaits the next president.

Biden spokesman David Wade told FOX News, “Sen. Biden was making it clear that history has shown presidents face challenges starting on day one, and with our nation fighting two wars and twenty-first century threats abroad, we know that we need steady leadership in tumultuous times, not the erratic lurching and stubborn ideology of John McCain.”

Camp McCain jumps all over Biden remark

ST. CHARLES, MO — Joe Biden may have handed Camp McCain a lifeline today by telling donors in recent days that Barack Obama will likely face a major international crisis during his first six months in office.

“Joe the Biden said a couple days ago that within the first six months, Barack Obama would be tested as president. Let me tell you, in his entire life, John McCain has passed every test given to him,” Sen. Lindsey Graham said during his introduction of McCain today at a rally outside St. Louis today.

The remarks by Graham began a day-long effort by the McCain campaign to use the remarks to make the experience argument against Obama.

Rudy Giuliani will be hosting a campaign conference call on the remarks this afternoon and McCain is also set to chime in on the issue at his late afternoon rally in Belton, MO.

According to excerpts released by the campaign, McCain will say:

“Just last night, Senator Biden guaranteed that if Senator Obama is elected, we will have an international crisis to test America’s new President. We don’t want a President who invites testing from the world at a time when our economy is in crisis and Americans are already fighting in two wars.

What is more troubling is that Senator Biden told their campaign donors that when that crisis hits, they would have to stand with them because it wouldn’t be apparent Senator Obama would have the right response.

Forget apparent. Senator Obama won’t have the right response, and we know that because we’ve seen the wrong response from him over and over during this campaign. He opposed the surge strategy that is bringing us victory in Iraq and will bring us victory in Afghanistan. He said he would sit down unconditionally with the world’s worst dictators. When Russia invaded Georgia, Sen. Obama said the invaded country should show restraint.”

(Sunday, October 19 - Filed by Mark Williams in Raton, New Mexico with the Stop Obama Tour) We learned at this morning’s Stop Obama Rally here that the McCain/Palin Straight Talk Express came through town yesterday. It arrived with a window shattered by a .22 caliber weapon. It had also been hit by an unknown number of paint balls from a paint ball gun or guns. There were reportedly no injuries and neither candidate was on board.

One local man who saw the damage and spoke with the McCain/Palin staffers said the attack(s) had occured in southern New Mexico that same day. Can someone explain to me why Obama will not provide his long form birth certificate proving his citizenship? On 10/20/08, his office filed an amended Motion to Dismiss the First Amended Complaint based on the following points:

1. Plaintiff Berg lacks standing to challenge the qualifications of Obama to be Presidential candidate.
2. Complaint fails to state a cause of action.
3. No viable federal cause of action stated.
4. No private right of action to enforce the FEC b/c the FEC has disposed of or failed to act on the complaint.
5. Berg is not a federal agency, hence is not subject to Freedom of Information Act.

What gets me is this, way can't Obama just provide a valid long form birth certificate? I am a lawyer, this is puzzling to me. He has something to hide and I believe people in the FEC have been paid off.
